Thread: UHF noise

I have a Uniden UHF UH7760NB on my D4 wired to my Optima second battery and Traxide unit. There is a wining noise when I transmit that stops if I turn the AC/heater fan off. Any thoughts?

If you are pulling your power from the same circuit as the fan motor, fit a choke to the power inlet, or even if you don't pull from the same circuit, do it.
Otherwise check that you have a good earth from the radio chassis to the body, and a good earth from the antenna coax outer sheath at the radio end to the radio chassis,as well as a good earth from the coax outer at the antenna end.
