From what I've seen the disco copes well if the globe is blown. Don't think it gives any faults or warnings. There are reports it doesn't cope so well if the replacement globe is different spec (resistance) to LR spec or is on the way out.
I recently had someone pull over next to me to tell me one of my brake light bulbs had blown;
#1 There appeared to be no warning light or message in the myriad of things in the car that give a bong bong or warning indication i.e. I currently have a message telling me washer fluid is low!
#2 I have read many stories about a faulty or blown brake light bulb causing the D3 to go nuts and give every warning light possible, drop suspension etc. This is down to the point of only using genuine LR supply bulbs.
I bought a new bulb from the servo and didn't see a difference with bulb working or not working.
Did I miss something?
Thanks

I think that the issue is if the filament on the blown globe shorts tail to stop light or vice versa within the globe envelope. .(Creates a major drama) Cheap globes have less filament supporting structure.
Dash light only warns of trailer light failure as far as I know.

						Funny,
My standard radio was has not been showing rds (station ID) on the FM bands.
After seeing this thread, I went out to check, one of my brake lights had blown.
Changed it and now RDS is working again

I had a blown brake light globe in my D3, no warning for it and no dramas of any kind with other systems, bought another one from Supercheap and fitted it, no problems.
No problem untill it blows again Andrew? Wonder if thay is why all new cars are now using LEDs?
Compare: LED Lights vs CFL vs Incandescent Lighting Chart
Consider life, cycling, durability and then search the number of people with Discos who have found multiple odd and inconsistent issues due to brake lights and then the oven effect of the heat from incandescent globes. Plastic parts are not indestructible.
Put a LED glode in the brake and tail lights and forget them for a full 50,000 hours compared with a maximum of about 1000 hours assumingheat, jarring or other issues do not help reduce the life of the incandescent globes. Each to thier own of course.
Wasn't dissing the LED conversion, sounds like a good idea. Just saying I haven't experienced a problem just changing the bulb.
