The BAS system locks itself to the cars VIN so cannot be used on other vehicles - also I don't believe that BAS do maps for L322s.

Same process for superchips remap with the bluefin module. Plug into OBD port and follow instructions to enable OEM or remap to ECU.

I assume I could download my DP map with the BAS?
Steve - IIRC, the DP Chip setup is an intercepter - not a remap. So no, you can't download the DP Chip map.

I've had the BAS remap on my MY07 D3, and now a Bluefin on a MY11 D4 2.7. The BAS unit made a massive difference to the driveability of the D3 -due to turbo lag from idle. It also gave more power/torque and improved fuel economy - using the "balanced" map.

The Bluefin makes a difference to the D4 - but in reality, it is only from 1800 RPM up, as the turbo lag is not as bad in a D4. Fuel economy is marginally better - if you resist the urge of planting your foot!

The other advantage of the BAS, is the ability to not only read some error codes, but also clear them. (Hint: you can read/clear error codes on any D3 - that is not locked to a car).

Is the BAS as powerful as Hawkeye? Do I regret my Hawkeye purchase now and should have bought a BAS instead?

BAS seems like catching 2 flies with one stroke

No and No. BAS can see DTCs from some of the ECUs - not all. It also can't read live data and some of the other functions that Hawkeye can do.

The Hawkeye is a good diagnostic tool and you can clear any faults the car develops along the way.

Be happy you have a Hawkeye, out in the middle of no where one day you might be very happy you have one. I carry mine in the D3 all the time even though I have little clue how to use all its functions.

    cheers,
    Terry

    @ terry

yes didn't you clear my faults at the boy's night out?

Is there a "Hawkey for Dummies" manual somewhere?

Haven't figured out yet how to clear the faults but only played with it for 20 or so mins. and not sure what kind of damage I could do with it so I'm rather on the cautious site.
