			CAM Shaft Sensor Fault

Wonder if anyone has had the same problem...

Sometimes when starting my petrol D3 the engine sometimes "knocks" loudly mid start all the lights on the Xmas tree light up - message is "Engine fault" with limited gears. Turn the ignition off and restart and the motor / gear are 100% OK only the engine fault light stays illuminated for a few days and goes away . .

Discovery Auto looked at the log and it registers "CAM Shaft Sensor Fault" which they replaced. A few days later the problem happened again even with the new sensor. Great blokes and they are going to replace it again under warranty but has anyone else had the same problem because I want to do the Canning Stock route next year and don't want this happening out there?

Probably not the sensor....these faults are common and difficult to trace. Bet you are getting HDC fault as well.

I've never seen a CMP sensor go.

On the petrols CKP's go a fair bit. Could be a wiring issue. They should check the resistance in the circuit and make sure the new one is actually working correctly.
