    D3 Steering Wheel Innards

Does anyone know how to get into the steering wheel - without setting off the airbag? There's a really annoying buzz coming from the wheel at about 60kph and it's driving me NUTS! Sounds like it's just a screw that needs tightening or some such. Any ideas greatly appreciated. Cheers, John.

Video even has the steering wheel on the right side.

The U Tube video below showing steering wheel removal for a RHD RRS. The video is very well done.

Let me add that it is very simple once you have done it but getting the hook tool just right takes a bit of adjustment. I made mine up out of coat hanger. I was fiddling for ages trying to get the tool to catch. In the end at the point of despair it needed just the right angle on the hook end in order to catch.

I did it to add the audio controls which is simple plug and play. Recommend it highly.

Later, the dealer gave me a new leather wheel very kindly under warranty but in replacing the cruise control panel they re-installed it such that outer edge of the panel is sitting inside the hub rather than overlapping as it should. It's a minor alignment issue to be careful of when you put it all back together. Its very annoying every time I glance down the LH side of the wheel but I can't bring myself to take it apart again or go back to the dealer.

Thanks so much for all that info guys! The video is really helpful - very clear and straight forward - but I take the point that you have to get that "hook" tool just right - I foresee much sweating and swearing! Wish me luck...

    Cheers and thanks again,
    John

Can I jusk ask Perth Disco, in regards to the plug and play steering wheel controls, Are all the Australian Disco's pre-wired to accept the steering wheel controls?? I have a D3 TDV6 S and miss the audio thumb controls?

    Cheers

Yes - plug and play - ready to go. Order the control panel and follow instructions above. I ordered mine from TLO (UK dealer) off the Disco3.co.uk website.

Can't be that expensive from Aussie dealers.

    A great upgrade.
