Whilst I suspect there has since been a software update to overcome this, mine stopped these frequent antics when I changed the CCF specs to indicate that no steering lock is fitted to prevent the steering lock from being used.

Modern cars are made to cost you money? They have added value to their product by ensuring it has to come back to the dealer for servicing and $$$$$$$ repairs?
My Merc starts first time every time and it's new and it's got a funny fob type key....the difference is....you plug the bloody thing in and turn like a key....who'd a thunk it!!! LOL!!!

The problem is the stupid wireless start on the D4. The quicker they get the thing back in the dash the better....plus it gets your keys out of the way. They still do it in the Freelander, so why not the D4?

I got a loner from LR recently and noticed that the 2012 fob has changed....it's now much smaller....starting to look like a size that will plug into the dash....

    Maybe one day!!!

    Cheers,

    Kev.

I suspect that whilst keyless entry is supported, keyless start will be fitted.

They should just go completely keyless entry; with the Lexus, you put the key in your pocket, and that's the end of it.

you can have that on the D4 - you just have to pay for the privilege.

Edit: on second read, maybe you meant they should just make it standard?

It's available in a D4...but judging by how bad the keyless start is, I'm not sure that I'd have much faith in it....

    Ah, got you. Thanks.

Yeah I guess it's six of one, etc...

Key on dash, good starts, recharge batteries..

Key in pocket (not practicle with my house keys attached though), open door, start car....

Maybe if it worked there wouldn't be such a discussion....LOL!!!

Mine works in my pocket. I just open the car, key in pocket, get in start etc. Alot of people are saying they have to put in in the cup holder of the centre console, have I missed something I should be doing?
