Fellers, this has turned into a *********** contest, who care’s the dam EGR is a pain anyway, we have to spend serious dollars to get rid of it, obviously it was designed by the green movement to generate a future income for them!

It was designed by engineers to combat a major contributor to smog and public health problems.
There are alternatives, Urea (aka Adblue or Diesel Exhaust Fluid) or very low compression ratio and lots more boost.
The low compression ratio and boost one is seeing more use now. But it still requires some EGR, albeit internal via valve timing rather than externally recirculated.
