    The utlimate ute

If this became a reality.....I would put down my hard earned without a second thought.

This would be the ultimate ute....but in a D4.

Be a great platform. I think they'd change the panels and dash so that it wasn't seen as a luxurious Discovery though.

    Not sure about that.

I had a friend that cut his patrol, had it extended and add a ute tray, and he told me that when he weighed it, it came in a little less....maybe due to no rear seats and all that metal and glass removed.

There is a D3 around town that has been chopped and with an alloy ute tray....an extension would be nice, but I suppose most blokes would prefer that ;-)

Word from a reliable LR source is that the Disco 5 will be based on a Defender chassis platform and will be available in single cab, duel cab, wagon, solid axle, independant air suspension etc etc.

Over here it is called an F-150.

The interior should look framiliar except that the steering wheel is on the wrong side.

Most variants are lighter than the D3 and yes, the cab is wider. They put that Eco Turbo Charged gasoline six in it these days - an interesting engine that has possibilities.
