I was browsing Amazon.com and even though it isn't applicable to me, thought it might suit someone on this thread. You can buy some thin led bars that replace the rear reflectors in the factory bumper bars, and activate with brakes and reverse. I have no idea if these will satisfy the regulations in your state, but might possibly be an option for those with rear-wheel carriers that obscure the OEM lights. They are around $75 shipped. Warning: The only review seems to be a bad one too.
