						Hello all
Just to keep you up to date. We ventured to NSW and took a look at the beast. All was well and smooth as silk. Got a bit lost on the test drive but that was no concern as it was all a pleasure. Did the deal and headed back to Sunny QLD arriving just today. Journey was great and only 200 bucks of fuel for the 1100K journey. Not bad for the V8! Decided the dealers attempt at a detail was pretty ordinary so gave here a good internal clean.
Then the problem struck. No biggie I hope!! but when I started her after the clean a noise from the back end like like something was wuring!!! and the indicator on the dash indicated the car was permenantly lifting. When an adjustment is made to the ride height the noise stops but then starts again??? All this while stationary. But noise continues if in motion. No alarms from the system?? Any ideas???

						Hi preacher
Yes it does?? sometimes it lasts longer than others??? Should it be doing this??? just does not sound right. It seems to come from just under the left rear wheel arch.
That's the area for the compressor pump - check under the car (between the sill and the chassis rail) that the lower plastic cover hasn't come off.
Cheers,
Gordon
Nothing to worry about,
The compressor is located in front of the passenger side rear wheel under the car. As the suspension is lowered/raised the compressor replenishes the air in the reservoir (long cylindrical tank under the passenger side of the car). the time the compressor runs depends on how much air needs to replaced in the tank which depends on how much the suspension has been adjusted. If you are not seeing any faults I would not be concerned.
Note that if you are "mucking around" with the suspension height, you get to a point when the air in the tank is completely depleted and the is system relying on the compressor only to raise the car. At this point the car will raise more slowly - you may also run the risk of overheating the compressor. Best not to fiddle too much...
Have a look at the manual and various threads here and other forums, you'll find a good deal of info to help you understand what is going.
EDIT: as Gordon says if the cover has come off it will sound louder...
Cheers,
Sean
