    Spare Wheel Well

I have a question about the spare wheel well, can a 265/70/17 fit in there or has anyone fitted a tyre of the same rolling diameter of 31.6" in there??

    Baz.
    Cheers Baz.

I can fit my 285 60 18 LTZ in there, but it has to be deflated and it also fouls the hitch from fitting.

Thanks mate, that's not looking good, towing is a big thing for this to work, hopefully he has a Mitch Hitch.

    Thanks, Baz.

Ya I reckon a Mitch hitch would work, but he would require an on board compressor. It would depend on the bolts of the Mitch hitch on where they protrude through the d shackle holes?

When I'm touring I have the tire on the roof so not a big deal.

    Baz

I fitted a Mickey Thompson 265 x 70 x 17 MTZ in my D3 wheel well albeit deflated to almost nothing & with a bit of wiggling & morning fresh.

As the tyres wear they get easier to get in.

I had an on board compressor so deflated was not an issue.

The tow hitch fitted whilst the tyre was in there.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers

    Thanks Chuck, that helps.

There you go Dennis, hope this helps in your decision, freight will probably be the deciding factor, unless some on here can help through the AULRO Courrier service.

    Cheers Baz.

I have a new set of Maxxis Bighorns they 265/70/17, Maxxis claim they are 807mm, or 31.7in diameter, very tight fit, but does go in, also have a Mitch Hitch. The Cooper STs with about 5mm of tread left and same size fit no worries.

As Baz has said it all comes down to freight, anyone any suggestions ? The best rate I can get to Cairns is more than from the U.S. unbelievable !
It more than doubles the cost.

Probably should post this is another place but don't know where .
The annoying thing is I was in Sydney 4 weeks ago with the van, not much room but I would have made them fit !
