Did they measure the usable storage space inside?
Did they consider how well a hose removes mud left in the vehicle from muddy boots?
Did they test how stable a hot cup of tea is when balanced on the mudguard?
Did they consider the fact that the Defender comes in a range of variants, one of which allows you to fit a Trayon camper on the back.
If not, then the comparison had serious shortcomings.![]()

Come come I think the point they are making is they have great love for the old tool box as do I, I have a real soft spot for the defender, I came so close to buying one and agonised over it for ages, I wish sometimes I did, especially when I got the bill for the reconditioned transmission,
This has actually brought me closer to my car which I know is partly down to the extra investment but the thing is that The discovery 3 is exactly right for me,
It was my first car,
I got a automatic license,(at 40)
I wanted to be adventurous
I wanted park in my multi storey car park across from work
I'm not a macho man by any stretch ( hairdresser infact )
I'm not mechanical at all
It was a choice of a new defender or a 2007 disco 3,
I am a big fan of the prospeed aesthetic, which I think gives the disco the edge in the good looks department

I also know that the discovery 4 is better and so will the discovery 5 and probably the new defender will be better, and so on........
What I'm saying is that my discovery 3 is right for me at the moment, and I feel that it is great value for the enabling technology, that
has seen a almost Learner up mt Pinnbar , traipse (I'm from Belfast) all over the high country and scoot along the Coorong,
I don't think I would have made it in a Defender due to my inexperience in four wheel driving.
But maybe I might have enjoyed it more who knows ?????
There is no debate necessary......

The Isuzu 110. Solid and as dependable as a rock, coming soon with auto box😊
The Range Rover L322 4.4.TTDV8 ....probably won't bother with the remap..😈
The choice was easy,,, Defender's rule,,![]()
