If it's the dryer, have you had a look to see if all the desiccant is clumped up? It can be revived or replaced very cheaply I believe.
Well after I changed the manifold hose yesterday and happy that my car was now all good I got the "suspension fault, normal height only" warning.....
After a bit of googling I diagnosed it as the compressor dryer due to I can still lower/raise the car as soon as I turn it on but 30-60 seconds later the light and warning come up....
So of to my local stealership for more parts....

While you have the compressor out to replace the dessicant, you might as well put a new seal kit in it as well. Under $20 from dealer and with the dessicant, will make it last years.
Weird thing is I'm driving car at the moment and no fault coming up.....been parked in the sun for the last few hours, might of dried itself out???
The sun wont dry the dessicant.
If the compressor had done some work first, eg raising from access to normal height, then it would be hotter and less efficient and therefore less able to get the reservoir up to pressure quickly enough. Once the compressor cools it works better so perhaps can get the pressure up quickly enough.
