Thread: How many seats in a new D4 TDV6

Hi mate, we ordered a 2013 TDV6 earlier this year. They definitely don't come standard with 7 seats - we wanted 7 seats, and had to order it as an option. If you have absolutely no need for 7 seats, then save your money and get the 5 seats - or spend the money on some options you really want! Just be prepared to wait 3 or 4 months for delivery if you end up ordering one to your own specs, as opposed to buying off the floor.

And yes, 3rd row seats do fold flat in the TDV6. Ours are folded down most of the time.

Apart from the no of seats, there is a difference between the the 5 and 7 seats in that the 2nd row folds flat in the 7 seat but not in the 5 seat. This makes for a bigger flat floor area in the 7 seat version. This is the case with the D3 and I assume the D4 is the same.

Not trying to upset anyone here, but if your not married to the Land Rover brand and want a five seater with heated and cooled seats both back and front, sun roofs, self closing tail gate, nearly every speed and lane and collision avoidance gizmo known to modern motoring that has a eight speed auto and powerful diesel that tows 3.5 ton and has and e-diff and air suspension and a great Harmon Kardon stereo plus privacy glass then why not have a look at the MY14 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland.

At roughly $78k drive away (RRP) they have more toys, bells and whistles standard than practically any special order 3 to 4 month wait D4 that would price up at around $130,000 +++ if ordered in a similar specification.

The other thing is they go like stink, are very quite inside and are extremely nice to drive.

The only thing that stops me buying one is they are not a Land Rover, otherwise I would snap one up as the best value highest spec 4b out there by a massive margin. ...

Hi Ivan,
The 2nd row seats in my 2005 5-seater D3 fold flat.

Have you tried moving the front row seats forward slightly?

I think we looked at a 5 seat TDV6 and the seat folds flat however from memory tis is how it worked.

The back seat itself folds up against the front seats and the back of the seat folds forward. It was flat but you did lose a bit of space from the back seat folding up against the front seat.

I think that is how it worked.

Just wandering how the 7 seta went

PS A quick question if you have 7 seats in a TDV6 do the setas fold up flat in the back. The doco hints there is a difference between the SDV6 and TDV6 in the way the seats fold up. I have seen the SDV6, not the TDV6.

I have a 7 seat TDV6 MY2012. All seats fold down flat.

The back seat itself folds up against the front seats and the back of the seat folds forward. It was flat but you did lose a bit of space from the back seat folding up against the front seat.

Yes Richard this is what I was getting at. The 2nd row seats are totally different between the 5 and 7 seat. The 5 seat is a 65/35 split fold and the 7 seat is a 3 split about 33/33/33.

And the way they fold is completely different. I am going on memory here as it is 4 years since I looked at both side by side. My D3 S is an optioned 7 seater with air suspension. When we were looking at the dealers, the salesman was unaware there was a difference until we pointed it out too him after folding both types of seats.

apparently service costs are scary and can only be done by a dealer not independent.
Jeep resale prices are not flash either.
