It does but is not a real issue as per my pic.Having the tailgate push up the awning a little(as in the pic) is not an issue at all.It won't push the canvas off the poles, unless you don't have the poles up all the way. Also depends on the slope of the ground etc. Also depends on how you mount it on your vehicle,as this can change the distance between the awning and the roof of the vehicle(and the open tailgate).Mine is on standard Rhino rails.

    Hope this makes some sense.

Re SupaPeg awnings: if you are planning to buy, I have a code for our club that gets you a bonus Beach Kit when you buy on the supapeg website.
PM me if you want the code.

    Baz,

I am located down near Botany Bay so not to far from you. If want to come and have a look and see how it fits send me a PM.

I still think that even with the ladder it should be ok.

Thanks everyone for your help, I have taken up the kind offers of Michael and George.

I have my currant awning on the Rhino Platform, after having the Rhino cross bars for a while they didn't seem to be as good as the platform for bolting things too, the platform seems a lot more versatile for mounting brackets.

    Hi Baz,
Once you decide what you want to do awning wise (and if you are going a Supapeg). Give Peter a call at Supapeg (he's the canvas guy).

I have a RRS 2010 Sport and Peter is willing to do custom modifications to their design to allow for lift up rear doors, even to the width of the poles to ensure they don't hit the lift up doors.

I have a side and rear awning on the RRS that peter did for me. If you give him dimensions etc, he will custom do it (mine was the same price as retail) just with wider poles and higher lift to account for the lift up rear door.

Very happy with their work as well. i used the awnings across the simpson for 3 weeks straight and it worked like a charm.

That's great, thanks for this, I will give him a call as soon as we have the funds all worked out(got a couple of other items to get also) this will decide whether we get the Rapid-wing or Supa-wing.

    Cheers Baz.
