    RSS & Disco 3 Battery

On enq re new battery 4 my 2007 RRS tdv6 at Challenge Batteries in Osbourn park, ie Varta H3 silver 100ah 830cca for $275 , was also advised that a 950 cca Challenge branded battery ( made in Thialand ) was now available at $250 , will think about this and choose .

I enquired about an AGM as LR now fit IE - Varta AGM g14 at 850cca 95ah, they said they do not reccomend putting an AGM in the engine bay due to the AGM not liking heat , . Any one got any real datta or info on this , the bit of reserching i have done would appear to back up their statement as above .

Why is everything getting so bloody complicated !!!!!.

Hi Fatso and if you get an AUTOMOTIVE type AGM, like an Optima, then is can be used under the bonnet of you RRS without any problems.

I have not heard of any one having problems with STANDBY type AGMs, like a fullriver, but I personally would stick with an AUTOMOTIVE type AGM because they are designed to tolerate higher temperatures.

I fitted a Varta G14 to my D4 in spite of a local battery supplier's rep advising against fitting a battery designed for stop-start vehicles because LR is fitting the same battery.
