    Dual battery system

I'm going to fit a dual battery system into my 2005 TDV6 S and welcome any comments on my proposals.

    My ideas at the moment are;

    * fit a 100ah AGM to the space in the back where the 7 seats go in the SE.
(I've already got the battery and I believe it wont fit under the bonnet)
    * buy a Traxide SC80CB and mount it near the main battery (any ideas welcome)
    * run 6 B&S from main battery (via kick panels) to rear compartment. Connect to AGM battery via circuit breaker.
    * from circuit breaker run 6 B&S to Anderson plug at rear. (This connects to caravan that has an additional 100ah battery and an 80watt solar panel system.

When travelling, this sytem will run a 40ltr Waceo car fridge and an invertor in the van running the 3 way van fridge on 240v.

Hoping Drivesafe will comment because I'm going to use his system

Hi ytt105 and no mate you can’t do that.

Sorry mate, just having a lend of you.

When the D4 first came out, there was a bit of a worry that a battery fitted in the engine bay may be effected by the heat.

It is not but, to be safe, my first D4 kits had the battery set up in the cargo area almost exactly the same way you are planning to.

So, you will have no problems doing what you are considering.

    Some suggestions

If you fit a set of Anderson plugs to the cable in the rear cargo area, you can remove the battery when it’s not needed.

Giving you the use of the 7 seats when needed.

Next, if you decide to fit the Anderson plugs in the rear, if you use 120 amp Anderson plugs, the terminals are big enough to fit 2 x 6B&S cable in each terminal, so you can use the terminals as the junction for the 6B&S.

    This greatly simplifies the installation.

You only need to fit a circuit breaker in the cabling connected to the battery’s positive terminal, again, simplifying the installation.

This will give you an idea of the set up.
