    Hi everyone.

Ordered an HSE today - Fuji White, Ebony interior, short roof rails and side steps. Think I got a reasonable deal - $90,600 drive away after trade of $5,000.

Delivery late next week. It was in stock at another dealer.

    Can't wait

I bet you cant. Hope you have set aside plenty of time to drive it, as you will do many miles and have the stupid grin on your face knowing you have made the right decision.
    Congratulations!!!

Thought I had been waylaid by the dealer this morning. I rang up to confirm details on the contract before I signed it and e-mailed it back and he told me that the interstate dealer from where he was getting my car had sold it - visions of cold feet at the good price flashed through my mind

Asked me to ring him back after 4.30 (I had told him I was going to be out most of the day).

The phone rang at 4.30 and it was the dealer. I was expecting the worst. He not only had found another vehicle, it came with the digital radio option and he is absorbing the cost. Can't ask for much more than that

Very happy with this dealership and quietly surprised. I had the usual opinion about car salesmen before I started on the car buying journey but these guys were great. No real pressure (other than the usual will you sign today) and I got a really good price. Couldn't fault them at all and would happily recommend them from this experience.

    Hi Pickles2

The time must really have dragged !!

I was just lucky that there's one available. I would have liked the rear locking diff but I know that we won't be able to do rugged 4WD stuff as my wife can't handle that sort of driving. She has a number of health issues and jolts send pains through her back etc. Main reason we're buying the Disco is to make life better for her and still be able to do some "gentler" 4WD stuff.

I remember when we bought our first car after getting married in '74. There was a shortage of cars at the time. It was a Toyota Corona wagon. My wife wanted green, dealer didn't have green and couldn't/wouldn't get one from another dealer. These days I would walk but I was young and innocent then. We waited about the same time as you and ended up getting white in any case and the trade in price dropped as well. Upside was that I got radial tyres - they were just coming in then as standard equipment. I think I managed to keep my mouth shut and not say anything to her about wasting time waiting for a colour but I was a lot younger then and not as wise as I presume I am now

Good luck with the Defender - great vehicle and tough as nails. Should last decades !!!

I'm still going to buy accessories separately if possible to avoid the luxury car tax etc.

Looking at an HSE with 700kms for $97,888 versus 1 SE with Tech pack, xenons hiline audio for $94,000, and 1 with Black Pack, xenons, rear air, rear camera and led running lights for $96,950 which the dealer will fit with steps at cost price so I don't cop the taxes.

Still negotiating but the HSE is tempting at that price as its got everything. Seems to be a good value proposition with the run out sale as well.

    Decisions, decisions
I just bought my HSE (with Black pack and Black gloss interior) for $93K on-road, drive away.

Cant recommend going to anyone but Qld Austral dealer. I shopped around carsales all over the country and then they bettered the best price I could find !

You should be about on the money there.

But remember, you are limited to what is in stock. The advantage of this, is that there is a bit more wiggle room.

Of course, the disadvantage is that sometimes you have to compromise on what you get.

I really wanted the rear air con, but there wasnt one in stock, and it would have been a special order. BUT, I did get the tech pack & Hi Audio instead, so.......

Update - three dealers can not get even close to low 80's for a SD with no options and even in white.

    may need to evaluate further
