Hi Howard,
The oil pump housing problem seems to be restricted to MY2007 & some 2008 D3s. However, if you want to replace it...
Hi everyone
Have not posted for quite some time as the better half and I have been a little busy enjoying retirement. Touring around in the D3 with the van or boat in tow is a hard life but someone has to do it.
The time has come to replace the 2006 D3 timing belts (159000ks on the clock) and from what I am reading it is also advisable to replace the oil pump housing.
I would appreciate any recommendations from the forum as to where to take the vehicle to have this work done and if anyone has had the timing belts and housing done what sort of cost can I expect?
I live in Toowoomba south east Qld and don't mind traveling within reason, (further if the fishing is good) a few hundred kilometres to a reputable business.
Many Thanks
Howard

There now seems to be a growing number of service centre's that wont change the belt for you without changing the oil pump housing as well.
From what I understand the kit can be bought with the new oil pump housing and for the extra couple of hours work, it is option many seem to be taking.

On the disco 3 website in the UK it has been posted that failers have occured on 2005 through to 2009 yrs not just 2007 yrs ,bear in mind these are in only small numbers and is usualy only after timing belt change out , why do components last for for 7 yrs and or 168k the fail after a belt change ,sometimes soon after and or up to 30Ks ?? .
I have contacted dealers and repaire shops in WA and over east who say they are not aware of this issui not sure why this is seeing that it is an issui on the net. . No real evidence of an actual reason for the failures have been forth-coming to date that i can find other than conjecture . Would be good to get this solved once and for all .
Here's a link to the UK site and information on the oil pump housing DISCO3.CO.UK - View topic - Oil pump casing it seems there has been a few housing designs. I think I will be changing mine.
Now any recommendations on who can do the timing belt and housing?
Cheers
Howard

I just had all the belts and a fuel filter done at Albion for $1500, but I also use MR as well. Both very good.
