			Fitting UHF to D3

					Hi All

Does anyone have other suggestions for AE locations? No bull bar. And the routing for AE cable from suggested location.

After watching the YT clip I may skip the 12volt hook up and go to the fuse box.

Any other hints or links gratefully received.

I did an install for the D2 which went well. (It's on here somewhere).

					RD,

See page 2 of this thread re the aerial mount.

 http://www.aulro.com/afvb/d3-d4-rrs/...bracket-2.html

As for wiring, I have an Icom 440 mounted under the front passenger seat. Power comes from the 2nd battery (but could come from the crank battery). Power and aerial are wired through the firewall via an existing bung located above the pedals on the driver's side and enters the engine bay to the rear of the the second battery bay.

The 440 has the display and speaker in the handset so I only plug it in when I'm using it where free floats in the drink tray in the centre console.

 Cheers.

I mounted a GME unit up under the dash above the drivers footwell and have the microphone (with controls) hanging on the dash.
Power from the 2nd battery so I can leave turned on.

Thought about adding a remote speaker but the built in unit has been enough.

I just installed a tiny Uniden 7700 over the drivers footwell. I don't have a second battery so I used an add-a-fuse and piggy backed off Fuse 34. I chose this one because I didn't want the risk of accidently leaving the radio on and suffer battery drain, so this fuse is powered when ignition is on.

In the 8 speed D4s, there is a lot of room under the rotary gear know, as it's purely electrical (took mine off to hook up power to a handheld UHF holder). I think a small UHF unit might even fit under there.
