You are lucky you could use 79l. I have never managed to put more than 65l in my D4 main tank with 0km to go for a long time and below empty on the gauge. I rely more on my 110l long range tank to get a reasonable range but even then I rarely get more than 1400km using both tanks.

My long range tank is also about 110 litres - it gravity feeds into the main tank so completely empties before we start using the main tank (D4, 2.7 litre TDV6).

On the way across to Tassie a few weeks ago, we left Kalgoorlie with full tanks, topped up in Norseman. Aim was to reach at least Ceduna without re-fuelling. When we got to Ceduna, still had plenty of fuel so kept going, and ended up reaching Port Augusta (1,668 km from Norseman) with still just on1/4 tank showing on gauge.

The back of the D4 was loaded (with seats down) and we had a reasonable amount on the roofrack. Had a reasonable tail wind all the way across which would have helped.

Total fuel for the entire trip (7 weeks away, Kalgoorlie to Hobart & return with a lot of touring around / camping / fishing based on actual fuel purchased and km's travelled (I don't even look at the litres/100km readout on the dash) averaged 10.2 litres per 100km - which I reckon is pretty good for a box shaped vehicle which would have weighed well in excess of 3 tonnes with all of the gear we had in / on it (and I'm not what you'd call a "slow" driver).

Had to put a new set of tyres on it when we got back to Kalgoorlie - but that would have happened anyway and I was glad to finally get rid of the original Continental's. Took the opportunity to also install the TPMS that I had previously purchased from Juddy on here at the same time. Now it's due for a service, so will have to book it in with Barbagallo's now that I'm back down in Perth at work.




Definitely a much more relaxed (and cheaper) trip than the last time we did it (in a Prado) and the time before that in the D2.

Managed to get the 'i' on the computer- turning the DSC off.. But still can't do anything with it.

Isn't that just a switch on the dash above the radio? I don't believe that DSC can be permanently turned off.

When in "i" did you try twiddling the radio knobs to see if that could move you through the menu?

Tried everything... And got nothing. All the buttons, reset everything again and again and no menu

I'm certain though, last time the i came up it was not because of DSC.

hi guys, my computer screen displays 14.4l/100km, I got the disco 3 SE petrol version. Initially when I did the drove from Sydney to Brisbane, it showed around 10.5l/100km. After city driving, it shows 14.4l/100kms. Just did my recent service. Is it something I need to be concerned about....

We have the 2007 S, albeit coil (not air) suspension.

There is no way to get into the computer on ours, what you see is what you get. The missus was disappointed because she wanted an outside temperature display...

Our other car, the Holden ute, does have all the whizz bangs but I still calculate fuel manually, actually an Excel spreadsheet. Most accurate way to do it and you can observe trends.

It would seem that you got the "i" message for other reasons. In the higher level spec systems you can go into "i" via the stalk but also if there is an issues somewhere in the car's system "i" on the display will come up - for eg recently the washer bottle on my car was low and the "i" display came up and a few seconds later said washer bottle low - any issue - major or minor will maybe bring up the "i" display - maybe as simple as rear door unlatched while ignition is on.

Did you try the Disco3UK site - I am sure they will have your answers.
