    D3 TDV6 Faulty Fuel Gauge

G'day, yesterday my fuel gauge started to play up.
I was driving home with an almost empty tank and then the gauge started to rise to indicte half full??
This morning it was normal to begin with, then did the same and rose to approx half.
I filled the tank and it indicated full for a while, then went to approx 2/3rds full after approx 20Kms of travel??

Has anyone has this happen to theirs?
    Is there an easy fix??

I have heard there are 2 senders and if the one at the back is the one that is playing up, you need to replace the entire tank..............
Can the sendors be accessed from iside the car through an inspection port??

    Thanks
    Darren

Mine has a similar problem, your stuffed once it goes back up to full. ...

I have been told that you need to replace the tank to fix the issue, do not know if this is correct or not.

I now just fill it up and reset the trip meter and go off of that and have done it like this for months.
    Cheers,
    Terry

I had a similar experience in the D3 in that it would never read less than a quarter full. As per TerryO I drove to the trip meter.

The dealer had two goes at fixing it but its a big job and I gave up after the second attempt. Apparently the senders can only be accessed with the tank out.

Cheers for the feedback gents. Not looking good..........
I often use the car to tow so rely on the gauge for fuel consumption.

I know what I can get out of a tank when not towing and I can use the ODO for this, but will be guessing my range when I tow??

Pretty **** poor design if I need to remove the tank......

Will do some more home work and let you know what I find??

    Cheers
