I'd be very interested to know how the warranty insurance is handled, I've now got a 2009 RRS and have about 1 week left to take up an extended warranty. Is there a limit to the amount covered or is the cover unlimited?

I would expect the insurer to also counter claim against LR as there would be a reasonable expectation for it to last much longer than 107k.

Bad luck mate....hopefully it will work out well for you.

My 2009 2.7 D3 also destroyed a motor, at 118000km, a spun bearing as mentioned previously. unfortunately I had no help from LRA as I had "used the vehicle for 4 wheel driving and there was oil starvation"............. absolute rubbish. They wouldn't pay any notice to the fact that the same problem had been recorded in Oz, South Africa and UK.
I ended up getting a <20k 2010 2.7 engine installed for 12K by an independant and so far have had a trouble free 138000K's.
As stated before I now use independants and have been more than happy with the service, work and costs
I still do not have a trust in these motors, they seem fragile to me

Make sure your extended warranty is factory not dealer as I reckon the factory warranty would have a lot more weight than merely a dealer warranty if there is a dispute and consumer affairs becomes involved.

    Hi Mick

The extended warranty for LR is handled by Allianz, but it is an direct extension of the original factory warranty, same things covered etc. Even with the original factory warranty, all the roadside assistance etc is provided by Allianz.

Yes, I know thanks, I was just thinking that some dealers offer dealer warranty but you have to get the vehicle serviced by them only, so its not worth much.

Yep...that 4wding...it's ok being the most awarded 4wd...as long as you don't use it as a 4wd! That's where you went wrong...how outrageous. I'm thinking that 12k might have been well spent on an engineering report and litigation...but of course less heartache and vehicle back on the road the way you did things and they bank on that.

    Cheers

    Warranty Extension

Thanks for the best wishes fellas, got a call Friday from dealer to say I need a new engine. The crankshaft is cracked! Thank God I had the extended cover as they said it wouldn't have been covered otherwise. To the guy who only has a week to implement his extended warranty I haven't got the PDS with me but I'm sure it said warranty is up to the value of the vehicle.
