    Time to Upgrade

So the time has come to up date the D3.

    We currently have a 4.0 V6 My08 D3.

Other than trying for a SDV6 what model year should I be on the look out for?

Not wanting to buy brand new.

Is there a Model Year I should be avoiding in the D4?

Many, many more qualified than me in this regard, but would recommend you have a crack at a diesel with the 3.0l and the 8 speed transmission.

My MY12 with 3 litre and 6 speed is sensational.

Almost 3 years and has performed faultlessly.

Plenty of offroading, plenty of very heavy towing, and plenty of touring with on Offroad camper attached.

I think it came out in MY12 as well but I'm not 100% sure but i think they did an upgrade in 2012 and it came out first then.

8 speed came out in 13. I picked up one of the last MY12's with 6 speed. To be honest i have no regrets in getting the 12 over the 2013. For two extra gears and the money saved on a hse was huge.

Drove both the only thing i did not like about the 8 speed was the dial and not having the traditional transmission shifter. If your not looking for the 8 gears you cannot tell whether you are driving the 8 or the 6 speed, both silky smooth.

The biggest difference you will notice on the D4 is not the transmissions but the 2.7 vs the 3.0l. Plenty of topics however you have to get a 3.0l they are chalk and cheese.

Thank you wasn't quite sure. I don't mind the rotary dial you do get used to it although a shifter wouldn't be bad haha doesn't really bother me. But yes both are amazingly smooth.

I remember when I went from D2 chipped TD5 to 2.7 D3 thinking not that much more power.

The other way round when I went from 2.7 to 3.0 SDV6.
    Cheers
