    Hi Mate,

    I've got both a MY10 and a MY13 D4. Both 3.0L SEs and both have a few extra options.

The HSE D4s have more fruit standard but there are plenty of spec'ed up SEs around. Second-hand I don't think there would be a huge difference between an HSE and SE, especially after a few years ... but I could be wrong.

I find the 8 speed is much smoother but the 6 speed is not rough by any measure either. Granted my MY13 has only done 2K, Vs the almost 90K on my MY10. I find the 8 speed 'punchier' off the mark too. Not sure why as their torque output is identical .... I'm guessing gearing. And again .... the MY10 is no slouch at all.

Beware though, LR have mucked around with the spec level for the SEs over the years, some additions - some subtractions, a couple of examples being Bi-Xenon headlights were standard on the MY10 SEs and are not on MY13. Electric seats are standard on the MY13 but not MY10. Not sure what other years are affected.

I hear the MY10 is probably the best introduction to the D4 range ... affordable, yet still fantastic .... oh, that's right ... I have one for sale .... ooops ....LOL!!! :-)

    Happy hunting mate.

    Cheers,

    Kev.

Well I broke down and bought a new one.

After much deliberation looking at and driving MY13 demo's in both SD and TD I actually couldn't justify the $10K++ price difference so what would any normal person do?

I don't know what a normal person would do because I just bought an MY14 TDV6 with all the options we wanted instead.

End of the day it worked out the same as a demo/used SD that had less options than the TD I have bought.

I must say it is like night and day compared to our 07 D3.

Only real problem is that the wife gets to drive it daily and not me.

    Should have it on Friday

Congrats. Even used there is a noticeable price difference btw the 2.7 & 3.0. Is there any difference btw the early and current 3.0, and what are the big differences you found going from a D3 to a D4?

The early D4s are coming down in price, but so are the D3s (one D3 seller agreed to sell me his for $2k6 until he got a better offer - oh well plenty of D3s around). I'm leaning toward a D4 MY11 but the D3s seem good when coming from a 25 yr old 110.

I think you'll find they don't sell the 2.7 any more only the 3.0l in two different states of tune.

    Driving feel more than anything

8 speed gearbox is like silk
On road handles even better than the D3
Feels more like a refined car in the cabin (seat bolstering etc)
    Updated cabin is very nice
on road the suspension has even less roll around corners etc

I had been looking for quite some time thinking etc but hadn't driven one (deliberately) and the moment it took it for a spin I was sunk

Wow mate sounds like an awesome machine nearly as much stuff as the HSE model haha. I'm pretty sure they all come with 19s these days I could be wrong. Jump on the land rover website and check out the configurator might help you a bit. You'll love it they are a beautiful machine!!

Must be good as 2.7 is impressive.
Coming from Hi performance cars (Porsche etc) for nearly 3T of vehicle my 3.0L HSE goes like a cut cat. Get it in the torque range when moving and feed on the power (don't trampit) and it pulls like......

Very impressive for a non performance based car.
