    Batwing awning on their D3/4

OK I want to get a Rapid wing batwing awning for our D4, trouble is we fitted a cheapy to the left side of the car and the pole hits the rear door(plus ladder) when open, lifting it up off the ground, now looking at the design, it looks like if it is made to suit the drivers side that pole will miss the ladder, thus letting us buy and fit it.

Anyone have a batwing awning on their D3/4 that can show us how well they fit??

    Baz.
    Cheers Baz.

I have a Foxwing attached to my rhino platform on short legs and it is fine with the back door even when I reversed the brackets to make it sit lower.

Hi Andrew, do you have your's driver side or passeger side and are you able to show us a pic with the rear door open, at your leasure of coarse.

This is the Rapid wing diagram pic, see the pole go across the rear door, that's were the ladder is, my sulotion is to have it come out the drivers side to avoid that pole.

    Cheers Baz.

Ah sorry I should have read your post more carefully, I don't have a ladder that might make it more tricky. The Foxwing appears to have exactly the same configuration as that. I will see if I can dig up a pic, but the Foxwing is off at the moment I I won't be home for a couple of weeks so can't take you one.

This is the closest I can get to a pic that might be useful. I don't think you will have any issue with the main part of the ladder as there is enough give there to accommodate. It will be the top of the ladder which may cause grief. My bet is that with the Foxwing sitting up as it originally came it would probably clear but I would want to see it before I paid money.

That's brilliant, thanks for that, going on that pic, it should work putting it drivers side.

Thanks Baz - what a brilliant looking bit of kit.

An awning is on my list ...some time after the roof rack..... looks like you just made the decision slightly more expensive
