    Service History/Updates Applied

    Hi guys.

I've done a search but obviously I'm not using the correct terminology to get a hit hence this post.

An answer from Sniegy in another recent thread prompted me to see if a particular update has been applied to my car as it falls in the VIN range Sniegy quoted in that post.

I'm registered in Topix and logged on but cannot see how to look at my service history. I'm probably blind or stupid or both

    Help

If you were the owner at the time that the update was meant to be done, then any dealer should be able to search the VIN and tell you.

<rant> If you were NOT the owner then tough luck, LRA have a direction in place that no dealer is to provide service history on a vehicle for the time that you were not the owner. No exceptions. If the car was not in your name on their system they will not give you the info. However, you MAY be able to ask a service centre "was this recall done at this service interval" and they MAY decide to verbally advise you. However nothing written will be provided for any period when you were not the owner. </rant>

Thanks winaje. I have owned the car since new. I'll check with the dealer. Good to know I'm not blind or stupid.

Ask for a full printed copy of the service history AND the technicians notes for each visit.

Topix will tell you if recalls have not been done but does not show they have been done - just says something like "no outstanding items".

Doesn't tell you if software updates have been done.

    Hi Garry.

It has this under Outstanding Campaigns.

"There are currently no outstanding Field Service Actions for this vehicle"

I guess this is what you're talking about and I can assume it's up to date with mandatory updates but not necessarily with optional ones that may be applied if there is an issue.
