OK here it is, now bear in mind, we had ATs when we did this, so if the weather holds out, even ATs will be fine.

    Us going down

    Hi Baz,

I'm not that experienced at 4WDing, so was just wondering about technique on that downhill. Do you rely on HDC even when going down the really steep bits (I could hear it kicking in here and there), or do you tend to try and control it manually using your foot on the brake?

I remember doing the Advanced training with the Range Rover Club, and on the really slippery downhill sections it was to trust the HDC that it could basically do a better job than I could - whenever I touched the brakes it would skew and it would be better to let go and just adjust steering as necessary.

    Cheers!

I was just letting it go down on engine braking, it's wasn't all that steep or slippery enough to use HDC, I have used HDC in extremely slippery situations though, it is really good to use if reversing down a slippery hill, I tested it out one trip away at Wee Jasper, I'll see if I can dig up the video and PM it to you.

    Cheers Baz.

    Hey all

I'm still not sure of the timing. So I heard 9am on Saturday and Sunday?

So nothing on Saturday afternoon for those of us not arriving til Saturday?

Also, how long does each drive go for roughly and how far from the campground?

I've just realised my daughter needs a lift somewhere on Sunday afternoon and that it is 2 and half hours home....and we need to hook up the van...

    Thanks

    Tawmii

Yes - although Sunday may be a bit late - by the time we get our "group glamour photo shoot" completed!

Yes - group 1 will take a break for lunch and if you time it right, you could catch up. Depending on numbers and weather - we might have to split up into two group 1s. Maybe best to PM me your mobile and I'll confirm where lunch breaks will be and roughly what time.

Just estimate about 30-45 minutes to drive back to camp. You'll just have to leave breadcrumbs to find your way back out!

    Cheers,
    Rob

That helps a bit but how long does a run go for? Will we be able to leave by 12 on Sunday? Hmmm, that means we would have to be back by 11.30 to hitch up.
Yikes, can my 14 year old catch a train and then taxi to Sydney Uni on Sunday arvo????

You can leave whenever you need to - there will be some great tracks covered in the first part of the day. I'll be able to give you a short-cut to get out quicker than following the whole track we are on.
