anyone used the Xbar from bushranger

    Hi Guys,
I just bought this Xbar because I don't have a need for a bulbar yet. I mounted the bar yesterday where the number plate is, and I am a little concerned how sturdy the plastic bar it attaches to is.

It just seems a bit flimsy to support anything other than the number plate. I was considering something like the 20" rigid combo. 3kgs plus the bar weight. The whole thing might start to wobble at 100kmh.

    cheers

I have fitted a couple of these at customer request.
I have used a large plate behind the bar, to stabilise the unit.

I just fitted 2 Hella Compacts to the bar.

A few extra screws into the centre of the unit & all was good. Very stable to my surprise.

    Cheers

Hi Sniegy, I am struggling with similar problem - can't find a bullbar for MY2014 Discovery and want driving lights (high beam is completely useless). Doing half lap next year with a lot of off road touring planned. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance. Megro

I just did a trip up to Perth today, returning in the dark, first nite drive in my MY14.Definately need driving lights, wouldnt call the hi beam useless, very good close in,but does lack the depth a good driving light will provide. They will match a long range driving light well I belive.
Will find out tommorow how far OL bars are away from being available.

Hi Andrew, any news on the OL bar? Agree I might have been a bit harsh on the high beam, but they could be better and I am keen to find a fix. Megro

I rang the bloke at Opposite Lock Wangara.
Says Im correct. He says only one fitted by a store over east, involved alot of modifying the trim panel on the bar as the new D4 is a different shape.Said he wasnt interested in trying to fit one and believed the old bar would be an insurance risk as its ADR specced to MY13.He didnt know when the new ones are available.I will be sending an email to both Opposite Lock and ARB to see when they expect to be able to provide one.

Thanks for the update - I might need to have a look at XBar to see if I can make it strong enough to mount some lights/antenna. Still loving the awesome Disco! Megro

    Megro.
I have emailed both ARB and Opposite Lock asking if they have a bar to suit the MY14 and if not when they expect too.
Will post here when I get a reply.

I spoke to the guy at SnakeRacing today and he says that the 10"SR series would be OK.
I wanted to go the 10" E2 (more light) and said it would probably be too big for the plastic mounting position. Not much extra weight but a bigger wind surface area.

    ...Now I want a bullbar
