    May the fitout begin.

    These D4s arent big enough.
Having a few nibbles on the D2 so I decided time had come to remove all my bits and pieces.
Firstly all the recovery gear and basic tool set.In the D2 they all sat safely by the engel behind a cargo barrier. No such luxury in the D4,until I can get my Bro to build a decent setup.I had an old toolbox in the shed that had camping gear in it,perfect.

Then the Engel went in,OK for now, want it mounted the other direction on a slide eventualy.

That's a monster Engel, Andrew. Better tie that onne down!

I'm thinking I really need a cargo barrier. I load up the back with gear, the engel is made safe but nothing else is. Not good.

Bloody Hell, why do you need a fridge that big?
The more space you have in the fridge the more stuff you take while stealing valuable storage space.
The tool box worries me too, unless you keep the seat up in front of it.

As you may not know Im a keen fisherman. That engel has paid for itself in saved bait and catch already, its a twin ie half freezer half fridge, then there are the cold beers in the fridge section.I only defrost small portions of bait at a time, plus I can freeze catch after vaccum sealing it in fillets. It also has paid for itself again on shopping trips to the city bringing back cold or frozen foods. It was permanatley fitted to BlackBetty and had its own deep cycle battery. In the future it will be a permanent fixture in the D4 with its own power supply.
There is PLENTY of storage space in the boat or camper trailer when on a mission!!!!

I had the twin door Engel ( 78 litre I think ..now moved to National Luna ) lengthways, with the slide mounted on a false floor. The handles gave the most pain, particularly as I have a cargo barrier installed. I tried the fridge without them briefly, but it was too awkward to move. The lid doors also hit the upper door when the out on the slide, but you can fit a slightly longer gas strut to get another 20-30ml of clearance if required.

If you check the forum, there is a good tutorial on making your own drawer set for a D3/D4. The design uses drawers on the bottom, which you will not be able to do with that size fridge, but the false floor example will be the same, and a definite requirement, as the floor in the cargo area is not flat, and has to come up 20 odd mm at the back edge, if you intend to use a fridge slide.
    D4 2.7litre
