I had to replace my whole compressor thanks to that 20 dollar exhaust valve. The bolt holding it in had seized with white corrosion / heat and wouldn't budge. It snapped when trying to remove it. I anti seized everything before installing the new compressor so next time hopefully I can rebuild it. Will have to drill, retap etc my old compressor as a spare.

The AMK runs without the s/w update as the update is primarily to reduce the reservoir pressure to save the compressor from having to pump so hard. However with the s/w update the compressor will last longer so best to get it done sooner rather than later.

I got my new AMK compressor from LRDirect.com for $900 AU delivered from the UK.
I installed it myself and got MLR to do the software update for $174.
I thought the price for the update was a bit steep.

I'm so happy that my Hitachi compressor was replaced with an AMK - just before warranty ran out recently. The Hitachi was taking about 2.5 minutes to go from standard height to offroad height and then would not move any more until it cooled down.

As a side note, the "fart" noise the AMK makes is different to the Hitachi.

The hitachi is cheap and easy to rebuild. I have done a couple and they are like new once done
