Hi Guys, I'm new here and reading this thread with great interest as I am going through the same, early thoughts.

You probably know this, but Brisbane has been smashed with Hail over the last 2 weeks. There are some bargains around and if you can live with it (I can't) you can slowly repair the dents and get a serious discount, some cars are being dropped by a few thousand....

Looks tempting but not a RR (new shape) fan.
Dropped an offer on a D3 today but prolly too low for the dealers liking. If no go then will take a break till after Xmas. Need to get the Perentie licenced.

All the best with your continued hunting Cliffy. My tip having bought a D3 diesel after having owned a D2 is make sure you get the steel pan conversion done straight away. Simple piece of mind IMO.

I also like the way you're looking at all sorts of different cars, pros/cons. Very impressive.

    Ben.

Fair enough, I also originally preferred the D3 shape. The D3 is also more advanced with TR. The RR straight 6 BMW diesel is a nice engine. I don't know any other modern vehicle that has such an open engine bay. A really nice interior and great to drive. The RR feels bigger inside than a D3. The tranny is apparently their weakness, was also fitted to BMW X5.

Search the net for an episode of wheeler dealers where they do one of these RR up.

And good luck with the offer. Stick to your guns if you think it's worth what you offered. Early D3s don't move fast. With end of mth & year they will be keen to move it. I found red book to be a useful guide of realistic prices.

Well, pending an independant inspection....it looks like I have crawled out of the dark ages into a D3. Pretty stoked and sticking to my guns I won out.
Hopefully there are no surprises found in the inspection.
The car is being sold by a dealership (Landrover - so I'm sure you can figure it out)) so you would think it's been gone over. It was by far the best one I drove and is very tidy. Mrs was/is impressed and I don't think it will be long before it's annexed and I'm dirving a Mitsi Colt around.
