Just another thought, if it doesn't fit....

    $1000-1500 Fridge......... VS......... $80-100,000 vehicle...

I'd probably change the fridge if the car was the right choice....

Sean, he wants to know with 1 of the back seats up.... the width from the seat to the other side.

Mine definitely doesn't have 1/2 of that 1235mm...it might at floor level - but higher up it gets narrower.

Hah. It's taken a few fridges to be happy with the 80L. Works perfect with our family and camper setup. We only have 2 kids, but have one on the way and so would prefer the space to up the oldest in the rear next to the fridge then we have room between two little kids in middle for nappy bags, etc. That's the only reason I'm upgrading from my D2a.

We tow a Jayco outback swan so don't really have any luggage in the car, just kids backpacks for stuff to do and the fridge/freezer.

It's up between a D4 SDV6 SE (my preference) or a Prado Kakadu.

Prado has all the features (SLS, diff locks, rear aircon etc) but is a Prado.

SE is nicer, better engine and ability. But hard to find a model with rear aircon

Budget is $65-70k so trying to swing a D4 2012. Otherwise it's an almost new Kakadu.

I was reading this post, and thought I would check in the morning as I have a box built in the rear carrying my 78 litre arb fridge, and the other seat is up.....but then I saw the note about the Playdo being an option, so instead of waiting....I ran straight out and measured her up.

My box flush to the passenger side plastic trim to the seat is 550mm. So at 540mm it will just fit. You will just need to be creative with the tie downs.

I went for a spin in a brand spanking new Playdo at my sisters place on the weekend....it is such an inferior vehicle in every way!

Ahhhhhh awesome! Thanks heaps for that. If it's really tight I can always take off the transit bag as that's about 20mm at least.

Just measured the fridge again. Making the transit bag tight is 520mm wide so we're good!

Like I said it's only for long trips we want to do this, as normally all 3 kids can be in the middle row. But as we're buying a new car and spending a fair bit, be good to be sure we can do what we want.

I spent 3 or 4 days in one for work last year, the biggest thing I didn't like about it was the visibility out of the front windscreen, its so small compared to the disco

I only have a 40 litre Engel, but I know that fits in easily with one of the rear seats in use.

Very first trip home to Kal after I bought the D4, my young bloke stole it for a day to use to carry the groom and party to his best mate's wedding. There were 6 of them in the Disco, with the fridge being well used.
    Cheers .........
