I've had six Prado's (all company vehicles) from the old 90 series through to the latest model.

The latest model is by far the worst one of them all. You want to try driving one in dry, dusty conditions (I had mine at Nullagine). Doesn't matter what you do, the dust just pours in through the rear barn door.

For off-road, the old 90 series is the best - higher clearance, better approach, departure and ramp-over angles.

For comfort, the 120 serries (I've had 4 of these, 3 x V6 petrol and 1 x Diesel) is best. Off-road, not as good as the earlier model. All models have problems with dust getting in around the back door, but the new one I had was the worst of all.

The petrol V6 is a brilliant engine - goes like stink and I've never had any problems at all with the three that I had - but I had a company fuel card, and you need it - they're not an economical vehicle to run.

At the same time as having these Prado's, I've also had Disco's as my private vehicle. Started out with a V8 Disco 1 (brilliant off road but just as thirsty as the Prado V6) then a Td5 D2 (which is still in the family), and now the D4.

Would I buy a Prado myself - not a chance. The equivalent model Disco has always been a better vehicle than the Prado.
