Straight over the top and straight down the other side. I did nose dive, and filled the bar full of lovely white sand.....atleast a full brickies barrow load all through it.

A heap of gear on the back seat came flying forward into the front seat....it was certainly a stuff up by me.

Over the other side some Tojo drivers that were camped saw it happen....they came up and told me what an awesome shot it would have made.

I reckon there would have been a heart stopping, insight questioning moment there too.

    Brett,

If you don't mind me asking, where were the sand tracks in the video and the photos? They look familiar, like Esperance or the sand hills on the way to Black Point or something. Maybe even Wilbinga for the photos??

    Hi Bob,

This was Dunn Rocks, east of Lucky Bay (Cape Arid).

Bilbunya dunes around at Israelite are phenomenal.

    Most pics around Wilbinga.

All of the above, plus felt stupid, holey crap, and hope I did not stuff my car up.

Bar did get a slight twist....but my bar has taken many hits offroad in 3 years, more so with rock crawling.

The skirt on my ECB alloy bar is pretty much the worse for wear at the moment. However, the biggest hit was done backing out of my drive over a drainage man hole, which decided to flip up and jamb under the bull bar until it bent and freed itself. At least this stopped the front wheel dropping into the hole, although I doubt that it would have phased the D4 at all!

That reminds me of when I was camping out in the Grampians with mates - had only had my RRS a little while and accidentally backed it into a mine shaft (about 1m across) - couldn't see it in the dark.
    "What the f*** was that??!"
mate: "ahhhh, the whole right side rear of your car is in a hole mate!!"
get out and look... car is resting on the underbody, wheels is in the hole not touching anything "oh Sh!!!!!!!!T!!"
I gingerly get in, select low range and ever so slowly throttle out of it. The car just walks out like nothing happened. Afterwards over a few beers I felt as though I'd over-reacted, and remembered that the car was made for this kind of stuff and that I hadn't even scraped the surface of what it could do.

Well over a year later and I have tested it a bit more and am still amazed at the vehicle - nothing fazes it - even towing a 2t camper the thing is unstoppable!

The thing that I find is about its biggest weakness is the ramp over angle. Both my son's 2inch lifted D1 and my son in law's 6inch lifted 80 series can get over obstacles that stop the D4 dead due to bottoming out the middle of the car, even at Llams lifted plus off road height with 285 60 R18 tyres. I would expect that with the 80 but the D1 consistently beats me in that situation. His main problem is a lack of clearance at the diffs with the relatively small stock tyres.
