    New (almost) Disco 4

    Hi there
A few weeks ago the wife decided we should consider buying a Diesel Disco 4 to tow the caravan (which she bought last year), as our 3.9 V8 Disco tends to get a bit thirsty with the van on the back.
Anyway last week we went and had a look at a few Disco 4's and tomorrow we're off to Adeliade to pick up our new 14 model SDV6 with 5,000k's on the clock.
Question I have is, can I take it to any autoelectrician to have a brake controller fitted or do you all recommend finding some one with experience fitting controllers to Land Rovers.
If so, can anyone recommend an auto electrician with Land Rover experience in SA.

    Cheers Mossy

From what I've been told, I'd definitely recommend only taking the vehicle to an auto sparky who has had experience with the D3/D4 and comes recommended.

There's way too many horror stories out there about people who have gone to "everyday" auto electricians with these vehicles.

If you're reasonable with tools / electrical wiring etc - it's not too difficult a job to wire a brake controller up yourself. I do all of my own wiring and have never had any problems - I've been able to find some pretty good instructions for most jobs on this site.

For local knowledge, PM Tombie on here. He's in Whyalla and is pretty knowledgeable about these vehicles - he has a D4 himself. He would also be able to recommend someone if you didn't want to do the job yourself.
    Cheers .........

Belair Road Auto Electrical, 82717617 (59 Belair Rd, Kingswood ) are the people to do the job, I had my D4 electric brakes done there, the have a guy who specializes in landrovers. They need to be wired from the plug at the back to prevent issues with computers. Hope all goes well for you. I had a 300tdi disco 1 that I used to tow with, D4 makes it all so simple now.

Thanks for that, I'll give them a ring sometime.
Though now I've had time to check a few other threads here it seems its not as difficult as I expected.
