Knocked some of the casting burrs off the wings did he? If you compare the 3.0 D4 rear calipers with the 2.7s you will see a square extension added at each end that looks added to prevent fitment of 18" rims when fitted to the slightly larger discs and corresponding caliper brackets.

Thanks for putting that link up, I forgot I have my forum pages set up in reverse so the newest comments are first, which also means the pages are in reverse. Which means any page link I put up only works if you have the same settings as me.

Don't ask me how I did it but its been like that since day one I joined the forum. ...
    Cheers,
    Terry

The mounting brackets / legs have changed since I bought mine Andrew - the new ones are lower. The rack is still the same though.

We found that out when we tried to buy an identical rack for Brendan's D4. You can no longer buy the same mounting / leg arrangement that I have on mine apparently (according to Steve at Lifestyle).

If you need any info on the new ones and how they mount, give Steve a call.

Brendan ended up getting a Rhino platform - the same as he had on his D3. He already had some lights & accessories that bolt directly to the Rhino Rack. Mine is still lower than his - I can "just" get in under the office without lowering the suspension, but the top of the rack lightly scrapes on the way out if I haven't lowered it. Brendan has to lower his both ways or the rack will hit on the building. He had a pair of small LED work lights mounted to the back of his roofrack and recently, when he had loaned his Disco to someone else in the office - the lights got wiped off.
    Cheers .........

Hmm, not quite the situation - the square extension is on the brackets rather than the callipers and is not the problem. The early D4 aluminium callipers protrude radially by around 6mm more than the 2.7 callipers that were fitted to later D4s and retro-fitted to some early D4s to overcome the squealing in reverse.
