Thought I'd post up my first 15 days with the D4. So far I've done only 6900km, no short trips and haven't been over 4500rpm (is that warp speed?). So I guess according to the manual it is run in
The oil gauge is now down 1/8 of a unit but that's probably to be expected. The satnav has been very good too, must say I was surprised after the negative comments I read about it. Knowing the ETA is quite handy. The privacy glass with uv tint and tinted front windows has made the car extremely good in the 40c days we've had from Townsville to Darwin. The only issue we've really had so far is the USB connectivity with the iPhone 5s. Works fine over Bluetooth but doesn't when plugged in. Put a 32GB USB stick in and use it for music and keep the phone on Bluetooth. To say I'm happy driving the D4 is an understatement, it handles beautifully on the open road at all speeds. The fuel economy has been fantastic. Well it was until we got back to the NT and set the cruise at 130kph, but even then it wasn't too bad and I was able to get 600km+. One of the best parts was driving the Alpine Way as it just pulls itself up the hairpin curves on the hills. What I miss from the defender is the front wings to rest things on. What I regret not optioning in are the surround cameras - my wife's Qashqai has them - and the rear A/C. You'll have noticed I haven't mentioned off-road driving. It will happen as will off-road tyres and sill protection. The Wrangler HP are a good road tyre but don't last long and a lousy off-road, I had them on my D2a. I'll probably replace them with Duratracs when I can get some. Jury is out on a bull bar until I see how the OL one pans out with you MY14 owners.
