    Unhappy Discovery 4 RESTRICTED PERFORMANCE

    NEED HELP.
I have a 2010 LR4 3.0SDV6 with 30K mileage. Has been perfect for the last 8 months until I sent the car for oil change. Mech informed me Restricted performance shown on dash board. 2nd turbo doesnt seem to work. They have diagnose and service the injectors and turbine in the turbo charger and the car was ok when 1st test but problem reoccur after the next hour. Does motor oil spec (5W40 used instead of recommended 5W30 has caused the problem)? I dont want to change the whole turbocharger as suggested by them.
    Pls help.

For what it's worth (and I admit I know very little about the workings of turbo), I had restricted performance come up recently and it turns out a plastic pipe drawing air into the turbo was cracked. Same model, same age, a few more kms.

Is there such an oil spec as 5W40 - was it 15W40? If so then get it changed immediately to oil with the proper spec, and not just the correct viscosity range too.

The ECM will never allow the secondary turbo to be used when performance is restricted. The fault codes must be read and possible causes considered before changing anything.

HPR 5 is 5w-40. A quick Google will show others.

I had the same problem in Cape York, a certain garage wanted to change one of the turbo's, allianz asked them to change the actuator first, fixed the problem.. seems to be coming up more and more i notice.. will try and dig out the codes from the bill of repair (which allianz picked up)

    Repair Details

    Extract from my problem

Engine Light On - Vehicle in Limp Mode
    Faults in PCM - P00BD-07
    Airflow to high
    P006A-00 Mass air flow correction
    P0235-94 Turbo charge boost low

    No air leaks detected
Dynamic air path test - Failed

Requires Bulletin LTB00504V3 for Turbo Boost sensor

Replaced compressor shut off valve then fault clear

ROLR033284 KIT- Actuator Shut Off Valve

That cost Allianz $641 vs a 10K body off turbo replacement charge or near as dammit
