I'm going to assume that's the whole new arm / ball joint approach.

Car is tickling 110k, so it sounds like the time has come.
I was quoted $1600 from Steve at Lifestyle in Morley[92717500], but that was total cost of the job using new arms and an alignment.

    D4 Lower Contol Arms

I imported genuine D4 LCA for my D4 from Duckworths.(About 12 months ago)
When I got my independent to fit them he said genuine D4 LCA were about $800 each side for parts, but they usually just fit D3 ones which are much cheaper. Also you dont seem to see any after market ones that say D4. If you fit the D3 ones you can do it a lot cheaper I think. I think there is a difference in the angle on the ball joint or something but you can get away with it. ( No expert, just my understanding)

    Regards
    Gerry

    Lower Control Bushes - Polyurethane

Well, I had the lower control arm bushes done today at Pedders, Sth Melbourne. Cost $456, including Parts, Labour & Alignment. The ball joints did not need replacing.
It certainly drives well, noticeably better, like new again. It does not feel harsh like some people said it would .
I dropped it off in the morning and picked it up at lunch time.
If I still have the Disco when they need doing again, I'll have more to say, but for now, I'm happy with the price and the ride.

wyperfield did Pedders use Urethane or their rubber bushes when they did yours? Curious as many say urethane is too harsh.

    That price is right however!

    Lower Control Bushes - Polyurethane

    Hi V2Evo96,
They fitted their red polyeuthane ones. The ride seems fine to me - like new. I does not feel harsh or noisy. I asked and searched around a lot and it seems like many who say the ride is harsh are not first-hand experiences.
