what was the proposed use of the storage hole in console

This might only refer to certain earlier D4's, but I'm wondering what the idea was for the storage hole to the left of the terrain response selector. To me it seems like a strange design and as if destined to be something else, maybe in Europe?

If you have the factory driving lights, that is where the switch goes.

On LHD vehicles, the EPB switch swaps sides.

Ergonomically the D3 centre console is streets ahead of the D4. The buttons are getting smaller and there's no gear shift, yet there's less storage?

Do you happen to have a picture of the switch fitted?

I have the fitting instructions for the driving lights, which shows the install of the switch in this spot, but for some reason, I cant upload the PDF.

    I will try again shortly.

I think Ozzy is talking about the storage hole in front of where you keep the fob.

I put my mobile in that spot. No idea what the intended design was for though.
    Cheers,

I'm confused, are we discussing the LHD EPB slot which holds keys/fob very nicely or somewhere else?

I'm interested in the details of the driving light switch. Also the bottom half of the HDC switch becomes the ECO button if auto-stop/start is fitted - Not in AU models as yet.

Found the DLK on Topix - shows the gearstick version but the details are the same. Can't upload it either... keeps thinking its a corrupt PNG file and not a PDF

OK, the switch housing as shown in Topix is not just a cover plate, rather a replacement bottom section plus a top section. I had wondered if it could be used to house a particular rotary switch but not so.

My FOB goes back into my pocket once the doors are unlocked so never thought of using that spot to hold it.

Thanks, yes I am. I'm guessing manufacturing year releases have also changed slightly over the range and not everyone will have this.
