Steel defender style rims on a D4

I was looking at my Tdi today,it's fitted with deep dish style wolf rims, would those type of rims fit over the brakes on a D4?,what about reversed center disco steelies?,the way they sit on the hub means the calipers aren't inside the rim but flush with them. Pat

If they did bolt on the incorrect offset would make it horrible to drive and severly shorten the lifespan of the wheel bearings.

    The bolt circle is wrong.

But what about steel P38A (some or all P38A came with a steel spare) or D2 rims? Same PCD as the D3/D4/RRS and 57mm offset - I have RRS rims on my P38A.

Thats why I asked about wide offset, the rim doesn't go over the brakes but BigJon made a good point about widening the track upsetting things. Pat

I've been following this thread where a guy has managed to shoehorn a set of 17" steel rims over the brake calipers on his V8 D3. Are the V8 brake calipers the same dimensions as the 3.0L D4 calipers?

The V8 D3 is different to the twin turbo and V8 D4s, the brakes are a smaller diameter and you can use 18" wheels. The D4s require 19s or GOE 18s.
