    Thanks Wheelan,

Looks good. Quite a bit of space under there isn't there - I don't think I really registered that before. Surprised that battery fits under there. I might see if I can fit my compressor under there now!

Seats still in Shamirj, when they lock down they hold the battery in place

    Hi Wheelan,

Bit of a dumb question - but what is on the other end from the socket of your spare wheel winder setup? Is it a hook ? Does it rattle?

    Thanks,
    David

It is a 1/4 inch extension bar on to a 3/8th adaptor, onto a 22mm socket, all welded together, not a rattle

    hi 100kin4,
I also have a similar set up, using a CFX65ltr fridge and the exact same cage, however i have a Full Floor fitted, covering both rear seats, and its really heavy. How did you fix the left side of your platform? im now thinking of cutting mine in half....
    Thanks & Best Rgds Paul

How much is the cage slide?

I have a eutectic fridge, and it needs an inch of space around it. I might put in a Drifta fridge box though, but they might not breath as well as that cage. They cost $350. ? Drifta Fridge Box: DFB $350 ? Drifta Camping & 4WD

I think the Drifta stuff is excellent, as its both light and does not waste space, plus there's no wheels etc to fail.

Interesting Wheelen that you have a water bottle in your drawer, as Drifta make water containers for their drawers, in either plastic or stainless. Some carry 40 litres, and I presume you hand pump the water out.

I am curious about some internal diesel tanks too ... some sit behind the seats and are plastic, and they can hold a fair bit of diesel. I'll go initially a couple of jerry cans on the trailer ... I have not had a LR before, so I'm a bit nervous about loosing the spare tyre to a fuel tank. It would make using the rear door a pain in normal life.

Thanks for the thread, its interesting.

And how long did your Traxide installation take you?

    Hi Paul,

To secure the base in the middle I ran the webbing straps between the seats and connected them to the seat base plates. At the rear I just threaded it under - there is a small space but by pushing through a cable tie first you can get the strap through. At the front I used a strap anchor under the seat base mount bolt.

The loops of strapping are secured by these slide buckles - the front one below the seats and the rear one above

These straps then just go through the cam buckle to the strapping secured to the cage as per pics. Really easy to take out too.

    Hi Doug,

That Drifta box does look good. I wonder if it would fit in the way I've done my installation - I'd have to check the width between the wheel arch and the gap between the seats. It is pretty tight for the CFX-50/65 fridge slide I have.

The cage was $275 and the Waeco slide about $330

My Traxide install (it's the D4-2S so adds the original LR rear socket and also a new one on to the new aux battery) I did in 2 parts - total time I'd say about 4-5 hours but I was taking it pretty slow as I wasn't familiar with how all the trim comes off. All went very smoothly.
