    D3 V6 Petrol Snorkel

Hi, I've been looking at D3 V6 petrol and at first the story was that there weren't any snorkels for these models due to demand it seems. However recently there are a couple that have popped up for sale on the interweb.

    So my questions are:
    a. are snorkels now available for V6 petrols?
    b. are the ones out there custom modifications?

    Cheers
    Stevie

Without a photo its hard to tell, but surely LR didn't design a different intake tract through the body for a petrol??? Does the air intake still come through the right hand grille on the front guard?

Edit, added link to pic, does this look like your engine bay? I'd be happy to have a look at your D3 for you if you wish, I'm in East Hawthorn during the day, and have fitted my own Safari Snorkel to my D3 so know what to look for... Can park your V6 beside my TDV6 and compare parts etc.

    Regards, Will

Snorkel manufactures are funny like that when it come to petrol cars. I had a petrol Pajero and was told the safari snorkel wouldnt fit even though the airbox what exactly the same as the diesel and in the same spot. Lucky i have a mate who knows someone who worked at Safari and he did a home fit up job for me and it fitted no problems. Its the same as my D3 V8 they dont list a snorkel but it goes through the guard the same as a diesel and im pretty sure it enters the engine bay in the same spot????

Thanks Will that's a great offer, I don't have one yet (D3) just looking around and wondered if the petrol could take a snorkel.

For the record, a pic of the V8 intake/airbox and a pic showing where it goes through the innner guard

So far that is the only real pain about the 5.0 V8 in the D4, it uses both the left and right air intakes, so would need two snorkels, one each side. ...

Have a look at this thread :

User djhampson post #29 advises he has fitted one!

There is also a snorkel on the uk ebay site that show it is compatible with all engines on the D3/D4 which is (possibly) another good sign.

Once you've fitted yours, let us know how you go as I am thinking of fitting one too!!

PS. Why aren't there any cheap clones of the mantec snorkels (with the air intake opening at the rear) I think they look much better than the Safari style ones where the intake is at the front

I have the D3 SE v6 and fitted a safari snorkel no major problems. Only wish they made the rubber hose a little longer. It's a real pain to pull the hose, hold the snorkel and tighten the clamp. Dark now but shout if you need photo's.

I'm working on a solution to that problem Terry. It will either involve a 3.0 litre airbox or some creative fabrication.
