    Plastic is cheaper to make for such a complex shape, besides it could be single use, if you ever have needed it you will never forget your error.

    I don't disagree, however, some of us have a regular requirement to refuel from a Jerry can, and these have a tendency to set off the fuel protection

    Yes its the fuel nozzle but not all jerry cans have the same nozzle as the standard diesel spec nozzle.

    It also inhibits siphoning fuel.

    Out of interest, I just got a new one from Rimmer Bros UK for about AU$35 inc postage. Delivery 5 to 10 business days. I don't know what they cost locally but that seemed fair to me for not having to separate my bum from my chair.
