    Fuel reset tool ?

I am having problems & hoped someone could help. I have triggered the yellow safety flap thingy & for the life of me cannot get the tool (provided) to reset. I have read the instructions but it does not seem to work. I am trying to avoid being over-forceful. Any advice would be most appreciated. Thanks a lot.

It appears to me that the tool is used upside down. Perhaps you should try it the other way round.

    It doesn't require force.

    Don't those 2 little tabs/teeth line up with the 2 holes ?

Thin end of the tool goes in with the 2 tabs/teeth facing upwards.
These will align & go into the 2 holes in the topside lower section.
Lift upwards & outwards & the tab should release.

    Cheers

Checked my reset tool. Tabs broken off. How much can I expect to pay for one, and would a LR dealer usually have these in stock?

Mine was triggered and the tool broken when I purchased my car. I just bent some wire and taped it to the bottom of the tool and it worked.

My D4 didn't have the tool from new, so when I tripped the lock-off (testing to see if someone was siphoning fuel) I had to make a tool using some coat hanger wire. Works a treat, but would love one of the tools if there are any spares about!

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

I paid about $40 from a dealer after the servo guy broke it when resetting it for SWMBO. I have since shown her how to use it

It's a wonder someone hasn't come up with a more robust after market alternative. The plastic tabs are very weak it seems. Why replace it with another like plastic unit if something made from metal was available (which to my knowledge it isn't.)
