The D4 has a dedicated tube to withdraw the oil and does not use a dipstick hole as suggested. The tube goes to the bottom of the sump unlike a dipstick tube. It will extract pretty much all the oil on a D4.
Yes, on a car with a traditional dipstick and drain plug, if you did it by attaching the hose to the top of the dipstick you'd not be effective. That's why on cars not designed for extraction from the factory, you insert the extraction tube through the dipstick into the bottom of the sump. This will get pretty much all the oil again.

Well lovely logic DiscoJeffster and thank you for all your info and photo. Will try and do the same when this heat here in briz settles and sort this extraction out. Looking forward to vacuum extraction now on ALL my vehicles.(ride on mower, TD5, daughters car etc.

Did mine on the weekend as usual. Withdrew the same quantity of oil my IIDTOOL recorded as the calculated oil quantity in the engine. Happy. Wouldn't do it any way different now.

Why the need for a 11DTOOL? Havent thought to much about this tool, have seen it mentioned many times but not to get away from the thread, I thought what you take out i.e what goes in the vacuum pump (mines 6l) you put back in. hmmmm. The book says 5.9 litres.

Yes of course. No need, but interesting to confirm I took out what it said was in the engine. Confirms it takes out most of the oil, that's all.

Do you own spanners? Sockets? Pliers? Etc...

IID tool is just a tool like the above.. for the electronic age...

    Well worth the purchase.

I'll definitely get one (IID) just like I have a NANOCOM for the Puma although I've never had to use it.
Plus the oil extraction pump. Just the thought of not having to clear up spilt oil is enough for me.
Or having it running down your arms....

    ATH

If you already have a Nanocom, just get a license for your current vehicle.
