I've found multiple tyre plugs can get you out of trouble, these last better than an inner tube as the tube will be easily damaged by the actual tyre damage.
Hi all
Currently running D697 in 265/60 18 on my D4.
Wanting to carry an inner tube for absolute last resort bush repair. Understand that breaking bead is a real pita, but figure that sidewall damage x2 in the middle of no where is maybe a bit worse. An inner tube, whilst not perfect is at least a method to get vehicle to civilisation.(and relatively small and cheap to carry)
Anyone else managed to source one? I've been to 3 tyre shops and searched the interweb....and nothing.
Cheers
Mark

18"is not common for commercial vehicles so most likely going to be a challenge. Will check with my contacts and see what I can find. Contact Rema Tip Top who are the major supplier of tyre repair equipment to the trade and see if they can help.
The other challenge is having a set of tyre removers that fit an 18" rim and can exert enough force to pop the bead so you can slide a tube in. I think I can get an extension kit for my tyre pliers but yet to be confirmed. Hence always carrying two spares.
We carry a range of plugs and patches and use more of the mushroom plugs which are a legal repair
