    19" tyre pressures OEM tyres

A question I meant to ask last week,a trip to Perth today reminded me to make adjustments.
After out inaugral off-road trip In Snow White I pumped the tyres up in the same manner I did with the D2.Run my compressor to an indicated 40 psi, switch it off to get an indicated 38psi,which in the real world gives a 35psi tyre, years of experience, went with what I know.
I feel the ride is slightly harder in the D4 now,not horrbibly so.What pressures do you guys run???? My running is bassically 200km to Perth and back again,so highway driving with some gravel work.
    Thanks
    Andrew

    Thanks,will see what others say.
Seeing I run a 80lt engel and tools full time your 36/40 sound good.
Havent touched tyre pressures before this,I suspect the dealers run them soft after todays trip. The trip home from Albany was different, all our gear for 8 days away.

For what it's worth, I run mine at 40 all round, to date with 24k on it in nearly 12 mths all tyres are wearing evenly, I'm happy with that.

Andy, I run what the tyre placard on the door says. As you say, you can feel the difference in ride between too hard and too soft tyres. I also find the ride is better with the larger 18 inch tyres I have, run at the placard pressures, than the 19 inch tyres at the same pressure. I was going to use up the last bit of tread on my 19 inch tyres and put them on a couple of weeks ago. They only lasted a day and I put the 18's back on for the better ride.

    Me Too

I tend to run my 19's at the placard pressures. Has been O.K. over the last 126,000km

Per LGM I have also been running placard pressures with no problems at all. The TPMS tells me only marginal increases in temperature from around town to highway. When we hook the Ulit up I only increase F-38 & R-40 and that seems to work perfectly

Will be interesting to see what changes once my GOE rims and 697 tyres go on

I run 38psi all around and find it pretty comfy, mind you took it for a wheel alignment the other day and got it in and went sheesh this is f***ed something wrong checked the pressures and the idiots had pumped it up to 43psi all around jeeze it wasnt comfy at all!! Let them back to 38psi and great again!!

On 19"s, I run 34 to 35 front and 38 to 40 rear, depending on load. If heavily loaded or towing I'll sometimes go up to 42 in the rear.

With a bullbar and winch I would add a pound or two to the front.

Personally, I find with more than about 35psi in the front, front end grip is too compromised. It gets too skatey and it doesn't turn-in as well. This would be a little higher with more weight up front from a bar/winch.

As soon as I hit the dirt I like to drop 4psi out all round. Off-road that can increase to 6-8psi. Keeping the pressures down on the dirt (and I just mean unsealed roads) significantly improves puncture resistance and grip. The only times I've had punctures on the dirt have been when I've been too lazy to let the tyres down.

    Cheers,
    Jon
