Hi Ean,
I changed the long one only, as it is the one most likely to fail. One less thing to worry about, worth the $ for piece of mind - for me.
Cheers,
Rob
I had the large intercooler hose split, this was a year ago now, and at the end of last year I was in the UK visiting family and bought a silicone set of hoses to bring back from the UK with me, I only changed the long one initially, and then I had a saturday with a few hours spare, and thought I'd change the medium length hose. whilst under there I decided to have a look at the small hose as I didn't even know where it was, once I got started, I decided I may as well change it! About 40 mins to get the old one off, and 5 hours in total from start to finish for medium and small hoses! wow what fun that was!
Now I know there have been some really good posts on Disco3.co.uk and how too's on this, but what I found really surprised me especially as I wasn't going to change the small hose!
As you can see in the pics there is a large split on the outside that runs pretty much all the way around, and a split on the inside that covers about a third the pipe, the splits both inside and out go through the balck rubber in places down to the orange rubber, so about halfway through!
the medium sized pipe had no damage at all, and the long one had no damage either but that one was only 1 year old. My D3 (Dizzy) is an Oct 2008 so MY09 build with 110,000KMs and is 61/2 years old. I've been told that they only fail rarely, but my suggestion......if you haven't changed this hose, or have been putting it off (it is a Sh t job) then consider doing it! the pictures speak for themselves!
